In addition to enclosed cabs, Tier 4-compliant engines, foldable ROPS (rollover protection systems), hydrostatic transmissions, four-wheel drive, cruise control, tilt and power steering, and lift capacities exceeding 680 kilograms (1,500 pounds), tractors in this size class may also offer multiple options for mounting a mower deck and connecting attachments and implements.

John Deere’s sub-40-HP tractors, for example, offer an Auto-Connect deck system for mounting a mower deck in less than five minutes, a Quik-Park Loader System to simplify attaching a front loader, the Quik-Tatch front-hitch system, and a Quik-Knect System to attach PTO-driven implements. KIOTI subcompacts provide a single-lever joystick for front loader control, along with such features as fully adjustable suspension seating, an intuitive instrument panel, and multiple tyre options (agriculture, turf, and industrial). Elsewhere, Kubota’s B50 and BX80 Series of compact and subcompact tractors variously feature a low-clearance ROPS that doesn’t requiring folding to enter a shed, a flat operation station with ergonomically placed levers and instrument panel to simplify operation, and a heated cab option to make winter work more comfortable.

With models like Case IH’s Steiger Quadtrac and the New Holland T9.700 at the high end, these tractors are designed for large-scale commercial farm, hay, dairy, livestock, and similar operations.
